This was a decrease of 29% from the previous financial year, when the import volume was 472,120 metric tons.

The top five alcoholic beverages imported into India in FY 2022-23 were:

India exported 107,520 metric tons of alcoholic beverages in FY 2022-23. This was an increase of 14% from the previous financial year, when the export volume was 94,320 metric tons.

Standards and regulations

FSSAI regulation details of alcoholic beverage

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is the apex body responsible for regulating the production and sale of alcoholic beverages in India. The FSSAI has laid down a number of regulations for alcoholic beverages, including standards for composition, labeling, and packaging.
